Artificial Limbs for Young Boy



 

A young boy lost his limbs due to electrocution in July 2023 This accident made him a quadruple amputee. In this situation they needed financial support to make him independent and he can take care of his daily routine. We learned about this boy through our RCC DADSS Dr. Jayaprabha.


In April 2024, after healing of wounds, Rotary Club of Coimbatore Cosmopolitan donated him prosthetic legs through ottobock. It helped him to stand and walk again. His dream is to play football one day. Then we have planned to provide prosthetic mechanical hands. Our club approached Ottobock again to procure a left and right hand for him.

Project Cost

The Project cost was Rs. 3,20,000 for Legs, Left Hand and Right Hand Modular endo. Our club raised this funds from our club members, CSR and donors. The hands were fitted and trained in June 2025.

On 4th July 2023 Times of India news Two boys aged 11 and 9 suffered burn injuries after they came in contact with a high-tension electrical wire while trying to pick mangoes at Palaniammal Street in Rathinapuri on Sunday. Police said both boys from same area, were playing on the terrace of house on Sunday evening. “The boys saw mangoes on a tree inside the opposite compound.They tried to pluck mangoes using a steel rod, which touched a high-tension wire. One boy suffered 40% burn injuries while another suffered 80% injuries.
